Lust and Pain

A raw series of portraits with a story behind

The base for these paintings is the australian website “beautiful agony” which i found trough a coding friend of mine back in 2005. the idea behind this website: everybody can submit a video showing themselves while having an orgasm. The only rule: no private parts.  Basically just your face. Once you get approved you will get $ 65 in return. I was very intrigued to figure out a way to transfer this into paintings.

Living in New York City at that time, I was used to  look into apartments in other buildings, being witness to other people’s life. This is exactly what these paintings are: A secret look into some one else’s world. Since in this distance there is no audio available, the questions remains: does she feel lust or pain? and who is to judge? everybody has their own favorite way to enjoy sex.     

these there paintings  were painted on loose canvas and the process of cracking paint is reflecting the vanishing moment of the situation seen behind the reflecting windows in a stranger’s apartment. Framing recommend.
